Now that you've organized everything for your webstore, it's time to really make it yours. Banners and Adverts are the best way to do this! First up, what are Banners and Adverts?
Your banners are clickable pictures that will be at the top of your website. Set as many banners as you'd like, with images and links to collections or pages related to that image! You can arrange them, change them with new arrivals or sales, and always have them directing customers where you'd like them to go! This is the place to showcase your brand through creative images. I used the website Canva to create my banners for free.
Use the Banners tab under Online Store to upload your banners. Be sure to delete the sample banner so it doesn't show on your webstore.
Check out my uploaded Banners:
When you upload your image, you will want to include your title, the URL you want the image to link to, and which position you would like it in. You can rearrange/update your banners anytime. Just click the three dots to the right of the banner you wish to change and click edit!
If you want to point your banner to a collection, enter the URL for the collection like this:
If you want to point your banner to an external website, enter the full URL for the website like this:
Now, let's move on to adverts. Adverts are very similar to banners. However, these are fixed images that will not rotate. While you can use them to highlight different pages and collections that you don't have in your banners, you can also use them as a second way to guide your customers to those links. Adverts really POP when your customer is browsing on their phone, so I recommend using them to highlight the pages and collections you really want your customers to see. Let me show you some adverts I created for free using Canva:
The process for uploading your Adverts is exactly the same as for uploading your banners. When you upload your image, you will want to include your title, the URL you want the image to link to, and which position you would like it in. You can rearrange/update your adverts anytime. Just click the three dots to the right of the advert you wish to change and click edit!
If you want to point your advert to a collection, enter the URL for the collection like this:
If you want to point your advert to an external website, enter the full URL for the website like this:
Both Banners and Adverts serve an important purpose for your webstore. The banners will really stand out on the desktop version of your store, and the adverts will lead the way on a mobile device.
We recommend the following for sizing of banners and adverts:
- Banners: 3000 w x 1055 h
- Adverts: 1080 w x 1080 h
Okay! Now you know about all the different aspects of designing your webstore! It's time to put it all together, and make one that is uniquely yours! Happy designing!
