Connecting to Social Media Accounts

CommentSold can be connected to Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger.

Before you can begin to sell products from shoppable posts and live sales on social media, you will need to connect your accounts to CommentSold. Watch the video below or read on in this article to learn how.

Connecting Your Facebook Account

 

The first step to connecting your social media to CommentSold is to connect your Facebook account.

In order to connect your Facebook account to CommentSold:

 

  1. Visit the Facebook Setup tab in your CommentSold admin dashboard.
  2. Click the blue "Connect Facebook" button at the top of the screen. If you are logged into Facebook on your browser, you may connect automatically. If you are not logged into the Facebook account that has admin access to your business page and groups, you will need to log in.

 

Verify that the connection was successful. You should see your Facebook name along with buttons to "Re-Connect Facebook" and "Disconnect Facebook."

Connecting Your Facebook Groups

 

Once your Facebook account is connected to CommentSold, you can enable the groups you would like to connect. Adding a Facebook group to your account is optional!

In order to connect your Facebook Groups to CommentSold:

 

  1. Visit the Facebook Setup tab in your CommentSold admin dashboard. The default view is for Groups.
  2. You will see a list of the groups you are an admin of. If you do not see the group or groups you are trying to connect, make sure the Facebook account with admin privileges is connected to CommentSold. Click "Enable Group" next to any groups you would like to connect. "'Sold" comments will be read from any connected group.
  3. Go to each Facebook group you have enabled to add the CommentSold app. Click the "Settings" tab in the left-hand menu. 
  4. Scroll down to "Advanced Settings" and click the edit icon next to "Apps." Click "Add Apps."
  5. Search for the CommentSold app and give it all of the requested permissions.
  6. Go to Business Tools on FaceBook, then click View and Edit for the CommentSold app. 
  7. Make sure that all permissions are toggled ON. In the "Who can see you use this business integration", section, choose "Public" and click Save. 
  8. Return to your Facebook Setup tab and click the button to "Re-Connect Facebook."
  9. Repeat the process of adding the CommentSold app for each of your enabled Facebook groups.

There are several settings to address once your Facebook groups are connected. These appear as toggles in the Facebook Setup tab of your CommentSold dashboard. We will address the key settings here.

 

Page is linked to group

If your Facebook business page is linked in its Facebook settings to the groups you enabled, this setting must be enabled. If your Facebook business page is not linked to the groups you enabled, this setting must be disabled. In order for auto-replies to work, your enabled page must be linked to your enabled group(s).

 

Autolink to post

In order for our autolinking system to work for individual products, this setting must be enabled. This setting will connect any post in your enabled page and groups that contains a #SKU with that product within CommentSold.

 

Auto link Posts to Product Selections

In order for our autolinkinng system to work for product selections, this setting must be enabled. This setting will connect any post in your enabled page and groups that contains a #(Product Selection Name) with that product selection within CommentSold.

 

We recommend that you read through the descriptions of the other settings for Facebook and decide what works best for your business!

 

Connecting Your Facebook Page

 

Once your Facebook account is connected to CommentSold, you can enable the business page you would like to connect. While it is not required to connect a business page to CommentSold, you will need one connected in order to go live as your business page rather than from your personal profile, and to use auto-replies. 

 

Note: You can only have one Facebook Page enabled per CommentSold account, and it must be a business account.

 

In order to connect your Facebook Page to CommentSold:

 

  1. Visit the Facebook Setup tab in your CommentSold admin dashboard. Click on "Pages" at the top of the screen.
  2. You will see a list of the pages you are an admin of
  3. . If you do not see your business page, make sure the Facebook account with admin privileges is connected to CommentSold. Click "Enable Page" next to your business page.

There are several settings to address once your Facebook page is connected. These appear as toggles in the Facebook Setup tab of your CommentSold dashboard. We will address the key settings here.

 

Note: If you already made selections for these settings when enabling groups, you do not have to do it again! The toggles between the Groups and Pages sections of your Facebook Setup in CommentSold are synced.

 

Page is linked to group

If your Facebook business page is linked in its Facebook settings to the groups you enabled, this setting must be enabled. If your Facebook business page is not linked to the groups you enabled, this setting must be disabled. In order for auto-replies to work, your enabled page must be linked to your enabled group(s). Autolink to post

Connecting Messenger

 

Once your Facebook account and business page are connected to CommentSold, you can enable Messenger. 

 

In order to connect your Messenger to CommentSold:

 

  1. Visit the Facebook Setup tab in your CommentSold admin dashboard. Click on "Messenger" at the top of the screen.
  2. You will see a list of the pages you are an admin of. If you do not see your business page, make sure the Facebook account with admin privileges is connected to CommentSold. Click "Enable Page" next to your business page.

You should have made selections for most of the settings on the Messenger setup page when enabling your page or groups. There is one remaining Messenger-specific setting to address if you have connected a Messenger account.

 

Automated Page Response

Enable this setting to deliver an automated response to those who message your Facebook business page. Type the message you would like delivered in the Template box and click "Update Template."

 

Connecting Your Instagram Account to Your Facebook Business Page

 

To connect your Instagram account to CommentSold, you must first connect it to your Facebook business page. You must first make sure that your Instagram account is a business account, and that you are an admin of the Facebook Page you would like to connect.

 

In order to connect your Instagram to your Facebook page:

 

  1. While logged in, visit your Instagram profile and click "Edit Profile."
  2. Under Business Information, click next to "Page" to "Connect or Create."

  3. A pop up will appear. Click "Connect Existing Page." You will see the Facebook pages for which you are admin.
  4. Select the Facebook page you would like to connect. If prompted, confirm that you would like to connect this page.

 

Once you have completed the steps above, return to your Instagram profile. Click "Edit Profile" and you will see your business page listed!

 

Connecting Instagram

 

Once your Facebook account and business page are connected to CommentSold, you can enable Instagram. To connect Instagram to CommentSold, your Instagram must be a business account and must be connected to your Facebook business page. 

In order to connect your Instagram to CommentSold:

 

  1. Visit the Setup tab in your CommentSold admin dashboard. Click on Instagram.
  2. You will see a list of all the Facebook pages you are an admin of. Click "Select Page" next to the business page that is connected to your Instagram account.

  3. Verify that the account was successfully linked to CommentSold. You should see a green "Instagram Connected" label with your Instagram username.

Once your Instagram account is connected to CommentSold, there is only one setting to address. 

 

Customer Instagram Login

If this setting is enabled, your customers will be able to register and log in to shop with Instagram as well as Facebook. We recommend you leave this enabled to allow your customers the choice! Should a customer want to connect both Facebook and Instagram to your shop, they can do so from their account page.
