With CommentSold, you will be able to create a mystery item and define rules for how you want the inventory to be selected.
First, you will select what Sizes you want to offer your mystery item in. The sizes are not case-sensitive. If you enter Small and Medium as your sizes, CommentSold will also look for any products that have "small," "s," "medium," and "m" listed to pull from.
You can also set an Inventory Days Restriction. This will tell CommentSold to only pull inventory for the mystery item that has been posted at least this many days ago. The default setting is 30 days, but you can choose to shorten or lengthen that time!
Next, you can set a Max Cost amount. If you enter a number for this, the mystery box item will be selected from products below this cost. If your mystery item price is $14, you may not want CommentSold accidentally selecting an item that costs you $100. If this is blank or not set, there will be no max cost.
You can also set a Min Price amount. If you enter a number for this, the mystery item will be selected from products above this price. If this is blank or not set, there will be no min cost. If your mystery item is priced at $25, and you have items on your website priced at $2, you may want to exclude those items from being selected for the mystery item.
Finally, you can choose a specific Collection (or collections) to pull from. The mystery item will be selected from products in these collections. If not set, the mystery item will not be restricted by collection.
Now let's take a look at how to set it up! First, you will go to your Products tab and click on Add mystery box product at the top right corner of the screen.
Next, fill out all of the information to create the product. You can choose to do a specific type of mystery item (e.g. dresses or tops), or you can let CommentSold choose from all items within your Size, Max Cost, Min Price, and Inventory Days Restriction rules.
I am creating a Mystery Dress Item, so I am selecting my Dresses collection in the Online Store Section.
Once you have entered your selection criteria, you can see how many items you have that CommentSold will choose from for your mystery item!
CommentSold will show sizes for products that are published to the Webstore and also posted to FaceBook. The products should be both Published to the Webstore and Posted to FaceBook to qualify for the mystery item selection.
Next, you will want to upload an image for your mystery item! I created a graphic for free using Canva for mine!
Next, you will add inventory quantities for your mystery item. You can set the numbers high because if there is nothing available in the customer's size, we will simply tell them it is out of stock.
Once you have updated the inventory quantities for your mystery item, you are ready to post to Facebook, your webstore, a live sale, or your mobile app and start selling!
When your customer buys a mystery item, CommentSold will automatically find the oldest item that matches your rules, check to make sure the customer has not purchased it in the past, and add the mystery item to her cart! If your customer tries to order a mystery item and there is no match (e.g. her size is already sold out), CommentSold will tell your customer that the order couldn't be created.
Instead of showing the item in your customer's orders as usual, she will see the image associated with your mystery item. This way, the item will remain a mystery until the customer unboxes the item at home!
When the order comes in, however, it looks just like a regular order!
That's all there is to it! Say goodbye to old inventory and hello to plenty of space for new!!
